This May, one of Australia’s most prestigious motorsport events is coming to the Queensland Sunshine Coast.

The International Rally of Queensland, Round 2 of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship, will feature the best rally teams and drivers to compete in Australia this year, as they do battle on the challenging forestry roads of the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The Queensland Government, through the Events Queensland Regional Development Program, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport all have committed their support for the event for the region through until 2012.

The Brisbane Sporting Car Club, organiser of Australia’s longest-running (since 1964) national rally championship event, is the rights holder and organiser of the IROQ.

The organising committee is committed to making this Australia’s best rally of 2011.

It will also be one of Australia’s most-watched rallies, with a wide international television audience and national coverage in Australia on free-to-air channels Ten and ONE HD.
